22 June – 1 July 2026
From 22 June to 1 July 2026, Mongolia Expeditions had the pleasure of welcoming a group of 15 guests from India on an unforgettable trekking adventure through the spectacular Altai Tavan Bogd National Park in western Mongolia.Over ten days, the group explored some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Mongolian Altai. Their journey took them across the magnificent Khuiten Glacier, to a hidden turquoise aquamarine alpine lake nestled among snow-covered peaks, through the beautiful Khar Salaa River Valley, and up to the snowy Möst Peak (3,400 m). They also visited the sacred Shiveet Khairkhan Mountain, home to one of Mongolia's most remarkable collections of ancient petroglyphs, where thousands of rock carvings tell the story of people who lived in these mountains for thousands of years.
This expedition was much more than a mountain trek—it became a meaningful cultural exchange between India and Mongolia. Along the way, our guests spent time with local Kazakh and Tuvan nomadic families, learning about their traditional way of life and experiencing Mongolia's legendary hospitality. They tasted homemade cream (urum), dried curds (aaruul), freshly baked boortsog, and traditional distilled milk wodka (shimiin arkhi), while sharing warm conversations with local herders inside their gers.
